The Special Qualities of Odysseia Olive Oil
The uniqueness of Odysseia Olive Oil is due to several special characteristics.
First of all, the olive: Odysseia Olive Oil is made from the Koroneiki olive, a small olive which, in our opinion, contains the best olive oil.
Secondly, we are actively present during the picking of the olives. The picking is done by hand and this means that we can determine which olives we want for our oil. Besides the fact that we think picking olives is fun, we find it important to be engaged in every step involved in producing the olive oil. Such as physically knowing the orchard the olives come from. Our oil is not mixed with oil from another orchard. In other words: Odysseia Olive Oil is a ‘single estate’ olive oil. An estate in Messinia is rarely larger than several thousand square meters. This is due to the small scale agriculture applied in Messinia.
Odysseia Olive Oil is organic. The olive trees are not sprayed with chemical products and they are not fertilized with artificial fertilizer. When olive oil is ‘extra virgin’ it means that the acidity level has a maximum of 1%. The acidity level of Odysseia Olive Oil is 0.3% and this causes the mild taste of the olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is the finest product of the first cold pressing. Thus Odysseia Olive Oil is hand-picked, cold-pressed, organic and has a wonderfully mild taste.
